PARANORMAL NEWS for FEB. 28: Bigfoot Shin Rise, Whitney Houston's Ghost, Bunyip Death Marked
DVR Ghost Picture
"I have a home that was built around 1886," says Debra, "and there have been hundreds of experiences from apparitions visiting, voices caught on my DVR giving answers to questions, shadows seen, and things moving. I was taking photos one night of my kitchen to enter a sweepstakes for a free remodeling and thought I would take random pictures. In this one I caught a picture of a man. It looks as though there are other people as well, but I can't be sure." See it in the Gallery.
Brown-Eyed Ghost
My story takes place in a friend's home in which I had been sleeping over. It was particularly late and my friend Shayne had just fallen asleep. I shut the TV off and went into the front room. I sat down in the swivel chair in front of a generally large computer.
I was browsing the Internet when I heard a faint tapping sound. I looked to my left to see if Shayne woke up. He hadn't moved a muscle. I shrugged and continued browsing.
Suddenly, it got very, very cold. I would like to mention that this was in the middle of summer in Florida. It definitely would not be this cold in the dead heat of summer. My vision got very faint and the computer screen started to fade. Scared out of my mind, I jumped to my feet.
I turned around to the very large window behind me. The window was draped with a dark purple curtain. I walked cautiously to it. I gripped the curtain, and pulled it open, fast.
There I looked in the dark brown eyes of a girl. She had messy golden brown hair, dark brown eyes, and a floral patterned dress. Her hand was pressed against the window as she frowned. She looked down and faded away, right in front of me.
I ran as fast as possible down the hall and jumped into my blanket, put it over my head, and eventually went to sleep.
The next morning, all that was in my head was the girl. I went to the window and saw her hand print, a faint outline of what used to be the girls palm. This experience scared the crap out of me, but I will never forget her face. So sad and so lonely. Could it be that she was just as scared of me as I was of her? It's a strange mystery that I cannot solve.

Automatic Writing Puzzle
I'm from south India. In 2000 I went to my aunt's house for my vacation. My cousin showed me a book named How to Communicate with Spirits in which the method of using a Ouija board and the way of using automatic writing was given in detail.
We used the Ouija board method instead of the writing method. (We opted for this method because a spirit communicating through an object was less scary than it communicating through our hands.) It came out successfully in our first attempt, and its answers also came out accurate on average.
I often used this method in my hometown with my fiends, and after some time we got busy with our exams and forgot the board for a while.
By 2004, when I was 19 years old, my aunt passed away. She was deaf and dumb and didn't know how to write other than signing her name and numbers. After some days, I tried to contact her, but I didn't get any partner to try the Ouija board method, so I used the automatic writing method.
A spirit came through, and at first my hand was making meaningless curves and circles. I asked its name and it gave my aunt's name. I said that I missed her and the reply was: "I will not leave until nine."
I was not able to understand this, so I asked it what it meant. But my hand wrote the same sentence again and again. The weird part is that whenever I tried to contact her after that, I always received the same answer.
Now I'm 26 years old and it has become worse. Now I don't even have to do any preparation. If I just hold a pen over a paper it starts writing that statement: "I will not leave until nine." I still don't understand what this nine means!

Bookcase Warning
This happened in Montevideo, Uruguay when I was 13 or 14 years old (around 1980-81) at my parents' house. That house was actually my grandparents' house; my grandfather died a few months before my mother and father got married, so my grandmother asked them to stay and live with her, as it was a large house.
One day I had just arrived home from high school and had lunch. My mom and grandma had to run some errands, my father was at work, and my siblings were at school, so I was home alone. My dad had recently bought a huge radio-cassette player set. It was really cool! He told my brother and me again and again not to touch it. He put the radio-cassette player set on a shelf in a very big bookcase, placed in the living-room.
This is very important for the story: the bookcase was attached to the wall (still is) and it was impossible to move. Imagine a bookcase that goes from one wall to another and from floor to ceiling; the set was there, just inviting us to go and listen to the radio or play a cassette in it. Two shelves above it were two medium-sized pictures of my brother and me. These were that kind of printed-on-wood pictures and were rather heavy. They rested against some books.
That day, as I was home alone, I decided to use my father's radio-cassette player set. I turned it on, listened to the radio, recorded some songs, etc. Suddenly, the two wooden pictures fell over my head and ended on the floor. I was so scared I ran to my bedroom and shut the door. My heart was beating so fast!
After some time, I went back to the living room. The wooden pictures were still on the floor. I picked them up and placed them on their shelf. Then I tried to move the bookcase to make them fall again. Nothing happened. I tried to do all the things I could to make them fall again, to no avail. The pictures rested there, against the books. So, the thing is: it was impossible for them to fall over me by themselves!
To this day, I don't know what made them fall on my head. I just know I was doing something I wasn't supposed to do and I received a kind of warning, "Hey, leave your father's stuff alone!" Maybe it was my grandfather... I don't know.
2,000-Year-Old Ghost Reports
Ghosts and hauntings are a part of the human experience, having been seen, experienced, discussed, and written about over thousands of years. Some striking examples come to us from a Roman lawyer named Pliny the Younger, who lived from 61 to 113 A.D. He writes to his friend Licinius Sura about a few ghost encounters of which he has been told, and which compel him to believe in their existence. His descriptions of the phenomena are very like the haunting and poltergeist reports we hear today. Here, translated from the Latin, is Pliny the Younger's fascinating letter.
