The more we explore and learn, the less we seem to know. For example, most of us grew up with the idea that Christopher Columbus discovered America. It's ridiculous, of course, by the very fact that there were already tens of thousands of people already living in North and South America, some with advanced civilizations.
What is meant by Columbus's "discovery" is that it heralded the invasion of this hemisphere by Europeans. ?Yet many archaeological discoveries suggest that we do not know the full history of others who came from the Eastern Hemisphere long before Columbus. There is evidence for the presence in the Americas of ancient Romans, Greeks, Chinese, Japanese, Hebrews -- even ancient Egyptians.
