I think it looks like a hound dog. It reminds me of something you'd see in Ripley's Believe It Or Not, where they often feature such shapes on trees or a potato shaped like a hippopotamus.
If this were a truly paranormal event, perhaps we'd find out that an old hound dog was buried on that very spot many years ago!
